The authentic collection (Arabic: الجامع الصحيح, al-Jaami al-Sahih) or popularly al-Bukhari's authentic (Arabic: صحيح البخاري, Sahih al-Bukhari) is one of the Sunni six major Hadith collections. Most Sunni Muslims view this as their most trusted collection of hadith.

Sunni Muslims view this as their most trusted collection, calling it "The most authentic book after the Holy Qur'an". However Shi'a Muslims traditionally believe that the book is unreliable in accuracy. |

History of the collection |
|
| |
The collection was assembled by the Muslim scholar Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari (810-870) and published during his lifetime. He was a scholar from Bukhara (modern Uzbekistan), hence the name by which he is known.

Imam Bukhari belonged to the Shafiie School and was overwhelmed by its juristic methodologies as recorded by Ibn Hajar. He is said to have traveled widely throughout the Abbasid empire, collecting thousands of traditions traditions. It is also tradition that he then spent some sixteen years finally selecting just 2,602 traditions he believed to be Sahih (authentic). |
